Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang on Thursday officially received the two Cuban doctors designated to the County, Dr. Dayana Fernandes, a radiologist, and Dr. Clara Issak, a family medicine specialist.
Governor Sang lauded the efforts made by the national government to implement a transformational agenda in the health sector evidenced by the deal to bring in Cuban doctors, saying health services countrywide will improve greatly.
He revealed that Nandi will also require the services of doctors stationed in other Counties, “The County will work together with other Counties across the board to ensure we utilize the services of other Cuban doctors countrywide.”
He urged health workers and medical officers from Nandi to work closely with the Cuban doctors so that they benefit from their expertise, adding that medicinal drugs are sufficient in the hospitals, though more will be added. The family medicine specialist will e stationed at Nandi Hills Sub County hospital while the radiologist will work from Kapsabet Referral Hospital.
