Nandi Governor to complete construction of Soko la Amani along Nandi, Kakamega border

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has affirmed that his administration is going to complete the construction of Soko la Amani market on the border of Nandi and Kakamega Counties.
Sang cited that the market will allow the 2 communities on the border to engage in business thus putting a halt to differences which have been a problem for a long time.
He said that the market construction stalled in 2017 after the former Governor of Nandi Dr Cleophas Lagat’s tenure ended, “I promise to finish the market construction so as to promote peace and unity among the communities.”

He also proposed that the border escarpment between Nandi and Kakamega Counties be handed over to the Kenya Forest Service for tree planting and conservation in a bid to cut off rampant tribal clashes witnessed along the border.
