Nandi Governor urges residents to embrace tree planting

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has called upon residents to consider embracing tree planting exercise in their areas as a way of conserving the environment.

Speaking during the tree planting exercise at Kimondi forest in Emgwen Sub-County, Sang cited that trees are very important in our day to day lives as it gives us good oxygen apart from preserving the environment as catchment areas for rainfall thus asked residents to embrace it fully by putting it in practice.

Sang who led the County team in the entire exercise where over five thousand tree seedlings were planted urged every leader whether political on government employees to participate in tree planting to achieve the National governments target of planting 10 billion trees to achieve Vision 2030.

“We want every leader to get involved in this noble exercise and let us not perceive it as the National Government initiative because it involves everybody.” He affirmed.

The Governor after tree planting exercise also led the annual County’s prayers where he called upon all the government employees to ensure they work tirelessly in ensuring revenue collection saying the County has had challenges and opportunities which his administration vowed to take up and handle it.

He added that in all such circumstances, they give thanks and glory to the Almighty Lord and are very grateful for the far He has brought them.

The County’s annual prayers were conducted by the newly ordained priests from the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret.
