Nandi Health CEC Ruth Koech has urged Nandi residents to go for cancer screening, given that early detection can lead to the successful treatment and boosts the chances of beating the scourge. Koech, who was addressing residents at Sochoi dispensary in Nandi hills, noted that cancer is a life-threatening disease. She said residents should make healthy lifestyle choices, especially in their eating habits.
Some of the cancer patients who spoke to West Media during the World Cancer Day said the disease is cumbersome and the treatment costs are too expensive, urging the government to declare it a national disaster. They said if it’s declared a national disaster, it will increase the access to drugs, citing how accessible ARVs are to HIV/AIDs patients. Residents were urged to turn up in large numbers and use the Cancer Screening Medical Camp at Sochoi.
