A section of Nandi MCAs have filed a petition to the county assembly clerk Hon Barnabas Kosgey to impeach their speaker Hon Joshua Kiptoo for alleged discrimination and abuse of office.
Led by Chemelil/Chemase ward administrator Hon Hillary Serem who is spearheading the motion, the legislators accused the speaker of ten counts including discrimination of the nominated members whom to them are not given the same opportunities with their elected counterparts.
At least twenty five legislators out of the total thirty nine MCAs have signed the petition to oust him out saying he has failed them in matters pertaining the running of the assembly.
The assembly members in their petition have accused the speaker for failing to ensure that the multi million assembly complex project which began way forward in 2014 under the first leadership of Nandi is completed in the required time line saying it has stagnated despite allocating funds to the project.
More over they have accused the speaker for nepotism and biasness in matters employment blaming him for not ensuring the rule of 30% for non locals.
“Nandi assembly has never stuck to the rule of 30% for non locals/non ethnic communities in employment and that is unacceptable and should be put to a halt,” read part of the petition.
Recently the entire house voted unanimously for the ouster of two CECs and their COs over alleged misappropriation of Covid-19 funds a situation which is now resting upon governor Sang’s hands to either remove them or not.
