The Director for Persons with Disabilities (PWD’s) in Nandi Mr. Cosmas Kipchumba has asked the Independent & Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to consider extending time for registration of voters exercise to allow such group of people to be reached.
Kipchumba cited that majority of PWD’s in the region aren’t able to access registration centers because of their disabilities thus there is need to be reached out in grass roots.
“Most of us persons living with disabilities are not able to reach the registration centers because of our different disability extend which needs assistance” Kipchumba revealed.
He asked IEBC to ensure sensitization of such people to know their democratic right of voting so as to enable them choose their leaders wisely in the August polls.
Nandi County as a whole was targeting to register 71, 000 new voters in the second phase of the registration exercise.
