The residents of Olessos in Nandi hills constituency in Nandi County have taken to the streets protesting against the brutal murder of a middle aged man who works as a cobbler in the area. Speaking to the press at Ollessos area, the protestors pointed accusing fingers at the police for killing the man.
The residents paralysed transport along the Lessos-Kapsabet and Lessos-Nandihills road. The deceased, who was living with a disability, was reportedly shot at point blank range by one of the police officers as he tried to intervene in a dispute between the officer and the boda boda operator. They alleged that the boda boda operator had refused to part with Kshs 50 at a police road block in Olessos.
They are demanding for the immediate arrest of the rogue suspected police officer within 12 hours or else they will take action themselves.
The body of the deceased has been moved to Kapsabet County referral hospital.
