Nandi senator Stephen Sang, who is the Jubilee nominee for the gubernatorial seat in the County, has decried the lack of drugs in Nandi public health centres and hospitals. While addressing the public at the County Referral Hospital during his impromptu visit to the facility, Sang said he was shocked to notice that health facilities in Nandi had no drugs for the past four months despite an allocation of funds to the health sector in the region. He blamed the high level of corruption in the County government.
He said that the shortages were as a result of corruption done by senior County officials under the leadership of County governor Dr Cleophas Lagat, who have been looting public funds since he took charge of the gubernatorial seat.
He urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to speed up their investigations on the matter, and he further applauded the Commission’s efforts after they uncovered stacks of money from a private house at Langas in Eldoret town. Nandi residents have expressed their need for a stable supply of drugs, with many unable to access private facilities for treatment.
