The Nandi County government through the Ministry of Tourism and Culture has cautioned all tourists visiting Chepkiit waterfalls in Mlango area to be more vigilant especially during this season of heavy rainfall. Visitors normally visit the site during weekends and public holidays.
Speaking to West Media at the site during a brief visit, the Tourism CEC Mrs. Valentine Chumo urged supervisors and tour guides on the site to be alert to ensure no lives are lost, given that the rocks lining the area also become slippery during the rainy season.
The CEC cited that her Ministry through the County government of Nandi has set aside funds to cater for the facelift of the tourist site, saying it will hasten the economic growth of the area after the planned rehabilitation.
She said safety barriers will be erected at the site and local divers will receive training to gain more knowledge when it comes to reacting to emergency situations.
