The County MP for Nandi County Dr. Tecla Tum has launched her bid to vie for Emgwen parliamentary seat in the 9th August polls saying she is experienced and capable for the seat.
Speaking during her official launch bid in Nandi, Tum said that as Women MP’s they have been empowered enough through their experience in parliament and have vowed to vie for various top political seats with their male counter parts in order to ensure two thirds Gender rule is achieved in the next coming government.
“As Women representatives, we have been empowered to move forward and aim higher and that is why we have opted to run for different political seats in August general elections,” Tum affirmed.
She revealed that the Women two third gender rule didn’t sail through in parliament because Women are very few in both Houses thus as Women leaders have vowed to run for Constituency posts in order to have more women elected to parliament in August general elections.
Tum is one of the aspiring candidates for Emgwen parliamentary seat after the incumbent MP Alex Kosgey declared his quest for Nandi senatorial seat which has also attracted many contestants.
The Woman MP affirmed that if elected to the seat, she will use the Ksh 37M Constituency Bursary Fund to empower students academically by ensuring equitable distribution of the kitty to institutions across Emgwen.
