The beneficiaries include women and youth groups who received money which will be used in different projects that aim at alleviate the poverty level in the area. The County MP Janet Nangabo released Kshs 6 million set to cater for school fees to benefit children, persons living with disabilities and orphans.
While the Women Representative Nangabo was giving out the cheques and different items, she appealed to the beneficiaries to use the funds and distributed items well. She, however, urged the national government to increase the kitty funds in order to benefit more residents.
She said she will visit residents in rural areas who have benefitted from the kitty in order to encourage them and offer more advice concerning the utilization of the items and cash.
Several people who turned up for the function thanked the County MP and the function organizer. “I thank the County MP’s office and organisers of the Affirmative Action fund for clearing my school fees, now I won’t be sent home from school,” said Jane Wairimu, one of the beneficiaries. Students were accompanied by their teachers to receive the cheques.
