NASA principals have vowed to bring sanity to the country’s leadership if elected in the August general elections. The principals led by Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, toured West Pokot County on Friday to drum up support for the coalition and accused Jubilee of setting a failed leadership that has made Kenyans go through hard times.
Led by NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga, they met their supporters at Kapenguria before holding a public rally at Makutano town where they were received warmly.
Raila Odinga said the Jubilee government is responsible for the high cost of living and said NASA will ensure basic commodities are affordable to Kenyans by putting up policies to support business.
Raila cited the high cost of living, insecurity, unemployment and corruption among key challenges facing Kenyans that the Jubilee administration has failed to address.
“Uhuru and Ruto have failed this country and Kenyans are tired of their poor leadership. NASA is bringing hope to Kenyans and make them have a better life come August,” said Raila.
He said the extra-judicial killings among the pastoral communities is a serious issue and that the Jubilee government is responsible. “The Jubilee government has allowed innocent Kenyans to be killed in Baringo, West Pokot, Laikipa and Turkana Counties,” he said.
Raila Odinga said the NASA government is anchored on five key issues that are affecting Kenyans, ”We will lower the cost of living, improve security, ensure free education from primary to secondary level, proper implementation of devolution, create employment opportunities to Kenyans among others,” said Raila.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on his part said Kenyans are ready for change and called on the Jubilee leadership to be ready to go home. He added that the country cannot continue to be led by corrupt individuals who only want to create wealth for themselves.
“We are telling Kenyans from all corners of this country to come out in large numbers in the August polls to vote for NASA. This is the only way to ensure Kenyans are safe from the corrupt cartels running this country,” said Kalonzo.
Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto accused the deputy President William Ruto of poor representation of the Kalenjin community in the Jubilee government.
Ruto said the DP has been using the Kalenjin community for his own benefits with little to show in the five years they have been in power. “We cannot allow one man to continue doing business with our people, Ruto has failed our community for the last five years,” he said.
He said the Jubilee government has failed to ensure proper implementation of devolution in the country and instead they have misused funds meant for Counties to ghost projects.
He called on the Pokot community to support NASA and be part of the next government. He said Jubilee government has done little to empower pastoral communities that have been marginalized for decades.
Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetanguala and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi said the NASA team will liberate the nation from the yoke of corruption and tribalism.
The two principals said the Jubilee government is full of thieves and selfish leaders who only care about their stomach. “The maize scandal now is a scheme to loot from the country millions of shillings and benefit few individuals at the expense of millions of Kenyans dying of hunger,” said Mudavadi.
“Time has come for change, and it’s inevitable. Our brothers from the other side should be ready to go home because Kenyans have spoken loudly,” said Wetangula.
Among other leaders present include Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok, Senator James Orengo, MPs Chris Wamalwa, Gladys Wanga, Nairobi deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke among other leaders.
The team was hosted by County NASA team led by County Woman MP Regina Nyeris who recently decamped from Jubilee party.
