As pressure mounts on NASA coalition leaders and President Uhuru Kenyatta to give dialogue a chance to enable the country to move forward after the extended electioneering period, NASA leader Moses Wetangula has dropped a bombshell after saying the coalition will not accept talks on development.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula said they are opposing sides of the political divide, adding that they presented different development agendas to the electorate and therefore they cannot be at par on the matter.
Speaking in Soysambu/Mitua ward in Tongaren constituency during a homecoming ceremony of area MCA Stephen Wafula Wamalwa, Wetangula said they postponed the swearing in of Raila Odinga to give room for dialogue saying the President should gauge the mood of the country and give in to what they are proposing.
He said the electoral reform is top on their agenda saying they did not participate in the repeat polls as ordered by the supreme court because the electoral body had not been reformed and the whole process would have been a repeat of the August 8th exercise.
He further called upon the government to ensure it provides adequate security to the people of Mt. Elgon constituency following a myriad of murders that have been experienced in the area saying it should consider deploying the Kenya Defence Forces to deal with the alleged militia group terrorising the residents.
Senator Wetangula asserted his wish to become the next President of Kenya saying with Raila having bowed out after a one-term agreement, he is the best-suited, adding that he is older than Musalia Mudavadi and he, therefore, has an advantage.
Area MP David Eseli Simiyu called upon the residents who have attained the age of eighteen years to ensure they have registered as voters saying it will increase the possibility of a leader from the Western region to ascend to power.
Eseli who is also the Ford Kenya party Secretary General said it is possible for Bungoma County together with Trans Nzoia Counties to raise 2 million votes by the year 2022 saying the field will be set for Moses Wetangula to become the president.
The MCA Stephen Wafula Wamalwa thanked the people of Soysambu ward for having elected him saying he will make sure he delivers on his promises which include better roads and equal distribution of bursary funds.
He also urged residents from Western Kenya to rally behind their leaders to actualize the dream of one of them ascending to power.
