NASA supporters started trickling into Uhuru Park early on Tuesday ahead of the planned Raila Odinga swearing in. There was a heavy presence of security officers around Uhuru Park and in pockets within Nairobi, as tension and uncertainty were witnessed throughout the city, with residents unaware of what might happen.
There was no confrontation, however, as the police allowed NASA supporters to access Uhuru Park. Supporters are expected from different parts of the country, and Nairobi supporters have already made their presence felt. Earlier, three buses ferrying supporters from Mombasa had been impounded at Voi. Voi police chief Joseph Chesire later revealed that they had been released at about 7 o’clock.
