NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula has pointed out that the coalition leaders have found no fault with IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati. Speaking at Matunda during the burial of the late Elizabeth Machimbo, Wetangula argued that the IEBC chairman wasn’t involved in any of the crimes committed by IEBC during the messed August polls. “We have learnt that Chebukati wasn’t involved in any wrongdoing, and we have placed the blame on other IEBC officials,” he said.
The Supreme Court judges, led by Chief Justice David Maraga, nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win and concluded that the electoral body didn’t manage the polls well, and there were irregularities on their side.
The NASA leader said that the coalition outfit are targeting IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other staff members, and they’ll take them to court for their involvement in the illegalities and irregularities during the polls, as revealed by the Supreme Court.
Moreover, he urged President Kenyatta and other leaders to respect the judiciary and stop making degrading statements concerning the arm of the government. He said some utterances belittle the judiciary, and portrayed them in a bad light, “The judiciary must be respected by every person in the country because it’s an arbiter among Kenyans, government,” he said.
Wetangula was quick to rubbish claims by Jubilee leaders that NASA isn’t ready for fresh polls but claimed there must be a fair level ground between them, saying they have reservations on the fairness of the repeat polls. He said their demand for reforms at the electoral body must be met before they go to the polls.
