The National Youth Bunge Forum has given its support to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by sensitizing Kenyans on how to follow the given directives by the government. Currently, The Youth Forum is teaching residents in West Pokot how to maintain high standards of hygiene.
Speaking at Turkwel during the program to sensitize residents on the dangers of the deadly virus, Youth Bunge President Richard Todosia said a network of young leaders under the age of 30, have already started sharing basic protective measures with their communities, translating vital resources into local languages, and launching campaigns to fight xenophobia and misinformation.
“Rather than resorting to fear or panic, our members are providing a more impactful response; informing themselves and helping others. To join their efforts and do your part, follow three simple actions. We are creating awareness on hand washing campaign and signs and symptoms of Coronavirus in rural areas,” he said.
He urged youths to also come up with innovative ways to compliment the already existing government measures to suffocate the spread of the disease.
“I wish to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for the efforts his administration is undertaking to combat the spread of the virus. On behalf of our network we wish to register our support to the strategic measures taken by the government especially on rallying the youths to be formidable agents of combating the invisible enemy. We also follow suit in affirming the government directives of advising our people to maintain high hygiene level and social distancing,” he said.
Todosia called upon both the National and County governments to incorporate the youth in all emergency response teams in a bid to ensure innovative ideas forms part of the decisions. “We strongly believe that if we adhere to the government rules we shall overcome and emerge victorious,” he said.
