Owing to increase in Covid-19 cases, the nationwide curfew has been extended for 30 days, effective from 7th. President Uhuru Kenyatta released the new directives on Saturday during an address to the nation. The curfew time has been adjusted and it will start from 9pm to 4am, changed from 7pm to 5pm.
The cessation of movement into and out of Nairobi Metropolitan area, Mombasa and Mandera Counties has been extended for a further 30 days from 7th June. The cessation of movement into and out of Kilifi and Kwale Counties will however end, effective from 7th June. The cessation of movement into and out of Eastleigh in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa will also end on June 7th.
Moreover, schools will be reopened ahead of the third term in September. The Education officials and other stakeholders have been tasked with coming up with an academic calendar to facilitate the gradual reopening of schools.
