The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has called upon all Kenyans to maintain peace before, during and after the August General Elections.
This is according to National Cohesion and Integration Commission Commissioner Dorcas Kedogo who was speaking in North Rift region during a peace workshop with different stakeholders.
Kedogo said the Commission has embarked on sensitization of different groups/ peace stakeholders in a bid to take peace messages to the grass root levels ahead of the coming General Elections.
The Commissioner insisted that peace is one of the pillars of development and prosperity of every nation thus Kenyans should be agents of peace at all times.
She cited that the Commission is working with different peace stakeholders including the Media, the security apparatus, civil societies, religious leaders and many other groups to see that peace prevails all the times especially during the electioneering period.
“Now that we have trained different groups, we expect them to go and train the public at the grass root levels to embrace peace and say no to violence,” Kedogo affirmed.
She added that as a Commission they are advocating for elections bila noma and thus Kenyans should stand firm and preach peace without fear of any contradictions.
The Commission had recently published a report indicating Counties that were liable to violence during elections including Nandi, Uasin Gishu among other listed Counties.
