National Cohesion and Integration Commission NCIC team led by Commissioner, Hon. Dorcas L. Kedogo held a three day workshop in Bungoma County to sensitize various people on the importance of peace ahead of the General Elections come 9th August 2022.
The Commissioner and her team met various stake holders from different organizations from the County that will help in passing the message as to why there is need for peace before, during and after elections. The stake holders comprised; Bungoma youth organizations, people living with disabilities, leaders from various churches and women groups in Bungoma County.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with West Media, Commissioner, Hon. Dorcas L. Kedogo said that the NCIC was keen to ensure there is peace that will enhance Cohesion and Iintegration among Kenyans ahead of the General Elections.
She said that as they were doing their hot spot mapping they realized that Bungoma County was among the hot spots areas though on a lower percentage. The theme of the discussion in the three days workshop was “Election Bila Noma.”
She called upon all stakeholders from various organizations to take centre stage in ensuring that peace is maintained. “I call upon local leaders, leaders of our churches, women leaders, youth leaders and leaders from people living with disabilities to be on the forefront to ensure our country is safe from any form of conflicts by preaching
peace in their different capacities,” Commissioner Kedogo said.
Gylean Munyambu, one of the directors of the NCIC commission emphasized the need of every Kenyan citizen to play a key role in ensuring there is peace in the country. He said that as NCIC, they mainly plan the leaders of the youths both political and mainly
leaders of the boda boda sector to educate them on the need for peace.
Mr. Munyambu said that any business sector will continue to thrive using an example of the boda boda sector which he said the youths are involved will continue to enjoy if only there is peace in the country.
