The rate in which school going children are dying in road accidents is alarming if not scaring and in Kenya, lately it is not amazing if the media carries a story of children dying daily even for a week, it now like a norm and everyone is used to.
Drivers over speeding and moving recklessly is the order of the day in our roads and one wonders where they are rushing to.
The sacrificial lamb of this process, is none other than the innocent pupil crossing to catch a bus or going home.
Many innocent school children have been crushed down by speeding vehicles leading to countless numbers of pupils dying daily in their quest for education .

Along Bungoma, Webuye, Eldoret road, hardly a week goes without reports of children being hit as well as other road users and it is no longer news!
It is at the same black spot along Kipkarren where hundreds of people have lost their dear lives travelling, crossing over and some innocently hawking along the roadside.
Bodaboda operators have been majorly blamed for such cases, out of five bodaboda’s a least two have killed a child if not a person.
Reckless driving as if they are being chased by devils is the cause of all these cases, where bright lives of pupils have been shattered and put to an end.
Lack of proper training being the key cause of accidents caused by boda boda riders, in this case bodaboda operators are employed without skills and hence drive recklessly on our roads crushing children and other road users.
Bodaboda trying to overtake blindly in corners have caused many accidents and the most affected are children.
Such operators have been spotted carrying more than one passenger many mostly carrying three passengers against the law.
Police officers have been up and down chasing bodaboda law defaulters and in police station one is welcomed by numbers of wrecked motorbikes resulting from accidents occurrences .
Drivers of public vehicles have no mercy for school going children as many have hit and killed children crossing over to their schools .
In an interview recently with some western region residents, a majority of them have blamed negligence to rising cases of children dying on roads noting that the drivers are to blame every time a child dies on the road.
They said drivers should always bear in mind that a child is a child no matter the body size or the class.
Some also pointed accusing finger to mothers neglecting their children appealing to them to always ensure they cross the roads and enter their schools buses, and vans before they can leave them.
Honestly speaking, this ogre that eats up our children and other road users must be stopped if we want to realize a happy future and a growing nation
