Schools countywide are set to be reopened ahead of third term from 1st September. Speaking at State House during the address to the nation on directives to deal with the spread of Covid-19, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the Ministry of Education jointly with the Ministry of Health will publicize guidelines on a gradual and progressive return to normalcy in the education sector by the start of 3rd term from September 1st.
He also said that the Ministry of Education shall announce the new school calendar by Mid August. The move comes as government sets out to tame the spread of the Coronavirus across Kenya, “We consulted with parents, teachers and we all agreed that we shouldn’t open schools now,” said President Kenyatta, “If we open, it’s like opening up to allow the virus to spread further.”
