New Ford Kenya has not been dissolved, Lusaka
New Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma governor Kenneth Magelo Lusaka has condemned the teargassing of Bungoma senator Moses Wetangulas presidential bid launch last week over the weekend at the Masinde Muliro gardens in Kakamega county.
The meeting stopped for over an hour after an unknown people or rather hooligans threw teargas at the dais a few minutes after the senator had been dressed into traditional regalia to symbolize the crowning of leadership.
Speaking in Webuye after holding a brief meeting with party delegates drawn from most of the counties in the presence of Bungoma women rep Dr. Reginlda wanyonyi and Bumula MP Bonface Otsiula, Lusaka said that the incident was a very shameful act that will go down in history of Luhya nation and such acts should be stopped as it sets a bad presidency.
Lusaka said that as NFK party they are condemning the acts of violence that was witnessed in Kakamega that could have easily lead to deaths of leaders who had attended the event adding that every person and leader enjoy the right of holding meetings and rallies at any given place and that people have equal rights regardless of where they come from or which tribe they emanate from.
“As a party which enjoys national support, we are spearheading for peace during political rallies and functions and we are also appealing to all political parties in the country to have a freedom of conducting political functions peacefully instead of chaos, hooliganism and teargas that can harm residents ,’’ he said.
He said that the party will join JAP as a cooperate member and will not disband as many politicians and leaders who don’t mean well for the party has been preaching in the very many meeting and rallies.
“NFK party has not been disbanded as rumors are going round we are still strong and our major plans now are re-branding the party and plan for the grass-root elections that are coming up in two months time and this is in a bid to make the party more popular in the country.” said Lusaka amid applause from over five hundred delegates drawn from all over the country.
He noted that the party will open offices in all the forty seven counties in a bid to strengthening the party from grassroots level saying that the doors are wide open to those who are interested in joining the party.
“We have also asked our party members to walk together and be united as we approach the next elections and avoid in house fighting between members,” he said.
Lusaka reiterated the party’s commitment to work with the Jubilee government because of all the developments records Jubilee has done in the region like the awarding of Kibabi chatter, commissioning of Musikoma Buyofu Mungachi, Kapsokwony to Namwela and the Lwakhakha to Chwele roads and many other developments witnessed in the region.
Bumula MP Bonface Otsiula said that NFK joined Jubilee as cooperate because they could not join the opposition which is on total darkness.
“You all saw how Khalwale was once beaten until he hid in a toilet last year in Nairobi and even those who are being teargassed please come to NFK where there is total peace.”
He said that all those aspiring for seats in western region should join NFK which is a party of the future.
“I want to call all those leaders in Western who are waking in darkness without knowing which party to join please come to NFK where all Luhyas are,” he said.
Bungoma women rep Dr Reginlda Wanyonyi said that as a strong party in the region they are going to work with jubilee as cooperate and win the coming elections
The leaders were addressing the media after an annual delegates meeting held at a guest house in Webuye town on Tuesday.
Among those present were deputy governor Hillary Cheguoni, leader of majority Bungoma county, MCA’s, Paul Wanyonyi of Matulo ward, Moses Opicho of Kamukuywa, Kimilili MCA David Barasa, nominated MCA’s Mary Namaswa and Martin Wanyonyi Pepela and other senior officers in governor Lusaka’s administration.
