Former Cabinet Minister and Keiyo Marakwet Member of Parliament Nicholas Biwott has died. The influential leader died at a Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted after a long illness. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Biwott worked under Kenya’s first three presidents, Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Arap Moi, and Mwai Kibaki, and held eight ministerial positions, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Trade, Industry, Tourism and East Africa Cooperation among others.
He was a member of parliament for 28 years and was also a prominent businessman, and philanthropist, having made contributions to the education and health sectors.
