NVP party leader, Nicholas Biwott officially announced that NVP party will be supporting Jubilee government in the 2017 general elections for the top positions, of the president and Vice president.
He spoke during an economic women empowerment fundraiser forum at Busia ATC organized by an aspiring MCA, Zilper Bett to empower women self-help groups in Busia economically.
Among those who attended the event were, Mebo Muruli, an aspiring Governor Kakamega county, Ruth Awino, President of Western region women’s caucus, Alan Masika, NVP organizing secretary and all other leaders vying for MCA and other positions in Busia and Bungoma under the NVP party.
This was the second forum of such, to be organized by Zilper, to help teach and boost women self-help groups financially so that they can start off projects that can help them improve their livelihood.
Self-help groups present were from Nambale, Matayos, Butula, Funyula, Teso South, Teso North and Budalangi constituencies.
Mebo used the opportunity to pass a message to Oparanya that she was very prepared to face him in the Ballot stating that NVP is offering transformative and visionary leadership.
She complained that Busia people have voted for change countless times before but they have never been successful.
The President of the western region women’s caucus Ruth Awino, which encompasses Homabay, Kisumu, Kakamega, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia and Busia, urged women to only choose leaders who will help improve their living standards.
Zilpher said that the major problem in Busia hindering economic growth was the lack of education and poverty calling upon successful people from Busia to come back to their hometown and invest.
She disclosed that her passion for development in Busia is what made her bring a campus of Masinde Muliro University in her property so that many Busia resident students can benefit.
NVP leader said that NVP is a free and fair party that stands for justice and development and it observes respect to the President of the day expressing his party’s support for the Jubilee Government.
He also encouraged NVP party leaders in various ranks around the country to open offices so that they can serve people better asking youths and women to observe unity as the country is one.
Biwott advised the self-help groups to consider investing in cotton business since it does so well in the region.
Approximately KSH 2.2 Million was raised in total in the fundraiser, with Biwott giving his personal contribution of 300,000 shillings.
