President Uhuru Kenyatta today gave a warning to headteachers of primary and secondary schools who still send students away for school fees. He went ahead and said that headteachers had no mandate to do so.
This comes after schools resumed this January, given that the students had stayed away for approximately 9 months due to Covid-19.
‘‘Let me be very clear, no child should be sent away because of school fees,’’ President Kenyatta warned. He also promised that the government will protect vulnerable Kenyans who are not in position to provide school fees for their schooling children during these hard economic times.
The head of state asked Kenyans to give information about such cases so that the government takes severe actions on them.
