Nominated Senator Getrude Musuruve Inimah, has encouraged religious institutions to pull their resources together and invest in various development projects in order to improve the living standards for their faithful. Speaking when she donated construction material to Mwamba PAG church in Lugari Sub County, the nominated Senator observed that if properly managed, religious institutions in all religious affiliations including Christianity and Islam have the capacity to heavily contribute toward the country’s economic growth and development index.
“Religious institutions can emulate institutions like SMEP, Faulu Kenya and KWFT by registering themselves and investing in microfinance enterprises,” added Senator Getrude. Singling out Faulu Kenya, which she said was formed by women in Nairobi’s Kawangware, She challenged religious institutions and area residents to become more visionary in their thinking.
The senator further advised churches in the area and Kakamega County at large to incorporate professionals from different fields including agriculture and business whenever they organized conferences and related activities so that besides religious nourishment, the faithful also benefited on important life skills from experts. “The human and natural resources of Kakamega County still remain fully untapped, which if properly utilized and managed can easily convert it to the country’s rainbow County,” she noted.
She appealed to Lugari Sub County residents to exploit the area’s rich, fertile and arable land by investing in agribusiness. Getrude donated bricks and gave her personal contribution of Kshs 10,000 towards the construction of a pastor’s house at the church.
