H.E President William Samoei Ruto has today led the swearing in ceremony of the new Director General of National Intelligence Service ( N I S ), Noordin Haji that has taken place in Statehouse, Nairobi.
Haji has served as a Kenyan advocate of the High Court of Kenya for 21 years and thereafter he was elated and became the Director of Public Prosecution (D P P ) replacing Keriako Tobiko who resigned in 2018. He has served exemplary as a D P P until he was this year appointed by Dr. William Ruto as the Director General of N I S and the appointment was approved by the parliament leading him straight in that office replacing Major General (Rtd) Philip Kameru.
The President has congratulated Haji and urged him to be ready to serve the people of Kenya in his new capacity so as to ensure the country progress properly as planned by the government of Kenya.
“I am confident that you have assembled the requisite knowledge, understanding and experience to be able to discharge your responsibilities at a time the world is experiencing multiplicity of challenges ranging from conflicts as a result of climate change, resource constraints and big issue of terror around the globe and in our region and many other challenges affecting us, ” he said.
He also informed the new N I S boss that his intelligence in that office will be of great benefit to the country since the information that will be obtained from the investigations that they will carry will be useful in solving many issues in the country including security and economy and the government will support him fully to ensure that he successfully delivers his best to the people.
Major General (Rtd) Philip Kameru, the outgoing Director General of N I S who was also in attendance was also congratulated by the President for all the efforts that he put in ensuring best service delivery.
“I want also to congratulate Philip Kameru for his exemplary performance while in office, I have served with him for years in the government and I wish him all the best as he down his tools to go and do his personal assignments and other assignments that will give him since his knowledge and experience will still be useful in the country, we will also pray for you, ” he stated.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Attorney General Justin Muturi, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and Haji’s family members were in attendance to witness and congratulate him for the big step he has made in his career.
Elsewhere, President Ruto too appointed Dr. Kamau Thugge as the Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, for a period of four years taking over from Patrick Njoroge.
