The North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB), which brings together a total of 8 Counties, has put in stringent measures to tackle the possible spread of the Coronavirus. Led by the interim chairperson of the Bloc Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, the Bloc has affirmed meassures are in place.
The bloc has directed closure of all the open air markets within the region and urged the national government to strengthen the capacity of the counties in enforcement of this directive.
All main markets across the region have been instructed to ensure provision of sufficient running water and hand sanitation points. Residents have been urged to play their part to keep the virus at bay.
Moreover, the Bloc through its member Counties has designated communication structures through which the public can access credible information and updates on the Coronavirus and residents have been urged to make good use of them to know more about the Coronavirus.
The region has also heightened surveillance and monitoring on all entry points and neighbouring Counties.
