NSL has exposed my players, says Manoah
Vihiga United coach Edward Manoah has said the National Super League (NSL)was giving his players the experience they required to develop their football career.
Manoah said that the players have been able to face off with other players with experience during their league matches.
“NSL is giving my boys the experience they desired,” said Manoah.
He added: “Most of them have not played football at this level…am happy that they are gaining experience game after game.”
Manoah noted that being on the top of the league standing was not a surprise to United.
He added that it was through hard work and determination that the team was achieving the good results.
The coach said that he was aware that most teams were now focusing on United because of their performance in the league.
“We are aware that most of the big teams in the league look at us as underdogs. We don’t underrate any team that we face and that is why we have maintained our unbeaten run,” he explained.
Manoah pointed out that he did not go for big names while recruiting ahead of the NSL.
“Many people were pushing me to go for big names while I was recruiting players to reinforce the team ahead of the NSL kick off but I declined because I believe grassroots is still the reservoir of players and they have come to conquer with me,” he said.
The coach added that as a result there is no consistency in development of football and performance of local clubs and national team.
Manoah said their target was to be promoted to Premier League and they were not relenting on that.
“Our Grand Match to Premier league is unstoppable…We are aware of the mountain ahead of us but I am happy we have already started climbing,” he added.
