Nurses in Nandi through the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) have blamed the County government of Nandi for their delayed due salaries for the month of April citing incompetence in the finance docket.
The Nandi County KNUN Secretary Mr. Amos Ng’etich said they have experienced delays since Governor Stephen Sang took over, saying the situation was different during the previous regime in the County. Ng’etich said the government has not paid them April salaries as civil servants and they haven’t received any explanation what could be the problem.
He blamed the finance docket, saying the County is facing management challenges due to an incompetent staff handling finance issues given that the Governor fired and replaced the experienced staff.
The KNUN secretary further claimed that some nurses have accrued overwhelming loans and said if the situation isn’t solved they’ll go on strike.
Concerning the issue of understaffing in Nandi’s health sector in Nandi, Ng’etich urged the government to address the shortage by employing more health workers.
