Kenya National Union of Nurses Bungoma branch has given a 14 day ultimatum to the County government of Bungoma to fulfill the bargaining agreement penned down during the start of the year failure to which they will have no other option than to call out for a strike.
Led by the branch secretary George Barasa and Chairman Felix Wasike they were categorical that their employer has failed to fulfill the agreement that included nurses employed on contract basis that will get their salaries and allowances fully.
Barasa added that the risk allowance was to be scaled from 3800 to 5000 considering the environment they were working in especially during the corona pandemic that hit the country and is still on.
He further disclosed that some nurses have also been under one job group for a long time saying they need to be promoted with immediate effect if the County wants to have a good relationship with them.
Mr. Wasike said they have been pushed to the limits saying the government has not timely addressed their issues saying the strike was suspended to pave way for implementation and since it has not been fulfilled they are left with no choice.
