The nurses’ strike entered the fourteenth day as health services were strained further countrywide. In Nairobi, nurses held demonstrations today in the City Centre, the focus of their protest being the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) they want to be signed.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Deputy Secretary General Maurice Opetu said that they won’t go back to work until the CBA is signed.” We will not be intimidated or influenced by anyone,” he added, “Let’s stay strong.”
Some of them had travelled from as far as Garissa, Kisii and Makueni Counties and converged at Uhuru Park as they waited for a directive from the KNUN officials. While chanting ”We want the CBA!”, they proceeded to the city centre via Uhuru Highway partly paralyzing transport activities.
