Nzoia Managing Director Godfrey Wanyonyi and six other senior heads of the company have been charged with abuse of office and embezzlement of Ksh 11.2 million and freed on bail. This comes after the senior figures were grilled by Ethics and Anti-Corruption commission on Thursday on account of various cases.
According to the EACC spokesperson Yassin Aila, the charges against were ranging from abuse of office, fraudulent acquisition of public property, violation of public finance laws and regulations and forgeries.
MD Wanyonyi was arrested in Nairobi, before he was grilled and taken to Bungoma court where he was charged, along with the other six colleagues. When pressed to say what he knew about the situation on Thursday, Wanyonyi indicated he wasn’t sure why they (EACC) had grilled him.
