The ODM party held a successful grassroots election in the Kanduyi constituency, with over six hundred delegates from the party’s eight wards participating in the exercise and electing the sub-county leaders.
Abraham Mulongo, the returning officer, declared Raphael Wanyama as the constituency chairman, deputized by Ayu Kassim, while Job Makokha was unanimously elected as the secretary of the branch.
The exercise was concluded successfully without any interruptions, with the elected members promising to revamp the party, which currently has only one elected MCA in the Bungoma County Assembly.
Chairman-elect Raphael Wanayama applauded those who showed up for the exercise and those who expressed interest in vying for the different positions, saying it was a show of faith that the party still has staunch supporters.
He said that, as new officials, they have proposed to hold a recruitment exercise across the county, aiming to have elected leaders in various positions in the 2027 election, adding that other parties should watch out.
His sentiments were echoed by his deputy, Ayub Kassim, who said that with the party’s Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, hailing from the county and being among the top party leaders, they are inspired to build a vibrant structure in the region.
