Elections of Farmer’s association board officials to oversee development projects initiated by the Agricultural Sector Development Support Programme (ASDSP) went on smoothly at Sabatia Agricultural Hall.
The officials on the behalf of the farmers will manage the resources sent through ASDSP and pinpoint contact farmers to be helped in increasing their production.
They are supposed to be in contact with all farmers in Sabatia Sub County in a bid to link them with ASDSP who will help in providing resources to farmers for higher yields.
The officials include Daniel Oketch (Chairperson), Hezekiah Ahonga (Vice chair), Alex Luvega (Treasurer), Phanice Mudeizi (Assistant treasurer), and Emmy Midenyo (Secretary).
Alice Makungu and Stephen Vulimwa were also elected to the board as members for smooth and efficient utilization of the resources allocated to the farmers.
The new elected leaders promised to work hand in hand with the farmers to increase production and productivity of local breed chickens in the area.
County director for livestock Richard Ndiwa who was presiding over the elections said the Ministry will train 60 farmers in the county as trainers of trainers.
He added that the selected farmers will be trained in two different phases in all the five sub counties in the area.
The ASDSP activities according to the director are in the second concept of increasing local poultry production, cow milk and tissue culture banana.
He was accompanied by Chain Value Development officer Daniel Oketch who encouraged the farmers to seek assistance from the board.
