As the deadline for civil servants who want to indulge into politics elapsed, Tongaren Sub County director of education George Ogando was on time to give in his resignation so as to vie for the Funyula parliamentary seat.
In his last address to the Sub County principals at Naitiri boys’ high school, Mr. Ogando who had served there for five years said he had consulted widely and his conscience is clear that he is ready for the next challenge to battle out to be the next Member of Parliament for Funyula.
He thanked the principals for having cooperated well with him during the entire period saying he is glad that the education standards have now been improved in the Sub County and called upon them to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
Mr. Ogando disclosed that he will be vying on a Jubilee ticket saying the people of Funyula have also embraced his move to be in government so as to achieve development saying for the past ten years that the opposition has been in power they didn’t achieve a lot.
“I want to dispel the notion that Busia County is an opposition zone, currently many sitting MPs were elected in parties affiliated to the government and the people of Busia are intelligent enough to elect an individual based on his track record,” he said
He added that he has been long time friends with the current MP Paul Otuoma, who has made up his mind to vie for the Busia gubernatorial seat, saying he wishes him well and will be looking forward to work with him to achieve development for the people of Funyula and Busia County at large.
Others who tendered their resignation in the Sub County include St Paul’s high school Narati principal Bernard Majimbo who intends to vie for the Mautuma ward representative in Kakamega County and Francis Mutali Sirengo formerly of Mukuyuni primary school who intends to run for the Naitiri/Kabuyefwe ward seat.
They all expressed optimism that they will make it in the political battlefield and urged their former colleagues to support them in their endeavours.
