Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong has exuded confidence that by ranking Busia the best performing county in the financial year 2020/2021 in implementing Aquaculture Business Development Program (ABDP) signifies good things in future.
He said embracing Aquaculture will lead to reduced poverty levels and increased food security as well as nutrition especially in rural communities.
The governor was addressing the press after receiving the trophy won by the county recently after beating 14 other counties.
He said embracing Aquaculture is now the way to go in creating employment for residents.
‘’My government supports the efforts of the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) noting that they have already identified two schools to construct two fish ponds.’’ He said.
Busia was ranked the best in ABDP after meeting six parameters including prudent absorption of funds, timelines and quality of reporting etc.
Ojaamong urged county residents to embrace fish farming which has put the county in the limelight, noting that fish has high nutritional value.
