Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has claimed his opponent Paul Otuoma has failed to get a running mate after prospective candidates turned down his offer.
Speaking during a series of rallies in Bunyala sub county on Sunday ahead of April 7th ODM primaries, the Governor said Otuoma has been desperately trying to get a running mate.
Flanked by five Bunyala parliamentary seat aspirants and scores of MCA aspirants, Ojaamong said Kizito Wangalwa will remain his Deputy Governor and exuded confidence of winning the party primaries.
The Governor said some people want to take credit for the repair of Sidokho Bridge by the County Government. He pledged to construct a permanent bridge to end miseries faced by area residents.
He promised the Abanyala two cabinet slots when he returns for his last term as Busia Governor, “I will also consider giving the community many slots in my administration. I have also appointed your son and my personal assistant Tilly Sumba to be Raila Odinga’s County Coordinator. I am doing this due to your love for me,” he said.
At Makunda in Bunyala Central Ward the Governor promised to intervene and make the 14 tractors he purchased for Magombe rice farmers beneficial. This followed complaints from some farmers that the management had hidden the tractors.
ODM Budalangi parliamentary aspirants Raphael Wanjala, Leonard Obimbira, Albert Gumo and Andrew Nakitare vowed to ensure Ojaamong wins the primaries against Otuoma.
Nakitare said Ojaamong is a Teso but is a good friend of the Luhyas. He said Bunyala had benefited from his administration with Finance CEC Leonard Obimbira, two chief officers, two sub county administrators, a personal secretary in his office, Tilly Sumba among others.
Ojaamong who was accompanied by Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa started his long day tour with a rally a church service at Rugunga Catholic Church.
He later held rallies at Mau Mau and Makunda in Bunyala South, Mubwayo Market and Makunda in Bunyala Central, Ruamba and Mudembi in Bunyala North and Budalangi and Port Victoria in Bunyala West.
At Mudembi the Governor said his administration deserves a second term due to the work they have done within four years of their reign and promised the people of Busia better service delivery.
He enumerated many achievements his government has realized including the launch of Agricultural Development and Co-operative Development and Revolving Funds and Kenya Medical Training College Busia Campus among others.
Deputy Governors Kizito Wangalwa said there are plans by the Labour Party of Kenya to disrupt ODM party primaries on Friday, warning perpetrators of dire consequences.
