One person died Friday evening following a fatal accident that involved two trucks at Mabanga along Eldoret-Webuye highway in Lugari Sub County.
According to one of the drivers Justus Mwanzia he was descending from Musembe towards Mabanga bridge before he was hit from the back by a speeding petrol tanker that was following him.
He said the tanker driver was trying to overtake him without seeing a Nissan Matatu that was approach from the opposite side.
The driver tried to swerve back to his lane to avoid colliding head on with the Matatu before he lost control and rammed into the truck and died on the spot.
Mwanzia said it was drizzling and the road was so slippery in the area adding that despite his efforts to pave way for his colleague to pass still he couldn’t control the vehicle.

“I saw him through the side mirror and even went to the extreme side of the road so that he could pass but he lost control due to high speed and the slipperiness of the road which resulted from the drizzles,” said Mwanzia.
The body was removed from the scene by officers from Lumakanda police station and taken to Kimbilio mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu county.
