Busia Deputy Speaker Moses Ote has denied reports that he has quit the Orange Democratic Movement that secured him the most powerful position in the assembly after the Speaker.
Speaking when he hosted Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong who toured development projects in his ward, Ote said the claims that he has joined Jubilee were a figment of people’s imaginations.
The rumor started when it was alleged that Ote was among the MCAs from Busia who attended Jubilee’s merger at Kasarani in Nairobi.
“In my ward, the Governor has helped many people but some of them are waging a campaign against me. I have many issues that I want to be solved in my expansive ward and not petty propaganda. I am currently drafting a memorandum to be presented to the IEBC requesting for my ward to be divided into three,” he said.
Ote is facing a prospective tight battle from youthful candidates who want to unseat him.
Apart from the youth, the Deputy Speaker is being challenged by women leader Grace Omasete whom he beat narrowly in 2013 elections.
Speaking during a rally in the presence of Ote and the Governor at Katakwa Polytechnic, Omasete said if elected she would work closely with the Governor to reap fruits of devolution.
“I know the pains of a child. As a mother, I will not neglect anybody but I will strive to achieve the needs of my people,” she said
