Vihiga County Assembly has been urged to draft a bill and pass it to compel the County Government to set aside funds for construction of houses to the less fortunate in the community.
Speaking when she visited a group of people with disability at Gisambai in Hamisi Sub County the area Women Representative Beatrice Adagala said many of the less fortunate in the County lack decent houses for human occupation.
0Adagala called upon the County Assembly to work on the bill and pass it to make sure some funds are set aside in the next financial year budget to fund the construction of the houses for those identified living in abject poverty.
“I have visited many less fortunate families who lack a decent place to stay, and it will be wise if the County Government adopts this housing program to help them have nice houses”, Adagala said.
She called upon the Current County Government to continue with housing project that was initiated by the last regime to house the less fortunate in the area.
The area Member of County Assembly Erick Odei said they are going to work on the bill and make sure the funds are factored in the next financial year budget for the commencement of the project.
Adagala took a swipe at the National Government for delaying to release Affirmative Action Funds saying this has stalled most of the projects that could have been initiated.
“The treasury should work closely with other related agencies in making sure the funds are released at stipulated time to enable us start working on pledges we promised our people”, She said.
