A total of six illicit liquor sellers have been arrested and over 120 liters of illicit brews nabbed following a successful raid conducted by four assistant chiefs at Kona Mbaya trading center at the border of Nzoia and Sinoko locations in Likuyani Sub County.
The operation was led by Namunyiri sub location assistant chief Caroline Vugutsa Olusala together with her counterparts Joseph Shikuku (Matunda) Maurice Mukopi (Moisbridge) and Howard Shipiti Inyangala of Binyenya sub location.
According to Ms. Vugutsa, working together with village elders and Nyumba kumi officials from the area, they carried out the raid between 5 am and 7 am managing to nab 125 liters of Chang’aa and arrested six traders of the outlawed liquor.
The local administrators vowed to carry out a door to door operation aimed at cracking and closing down all illicit liquor activities within their area of jurisdiction, which they accused of being among major contributors to criminal activities in the area.
The suspects were handed to officers from Matunda police station for a legal procedure to be taken against them.
