Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has urged Members of the County Assembly to diligently execute their oversight role in the debating chamber, as opposed to funerals and other social functions.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Bungoma County Assembly Debating Chamber and the launch of the Assembly ICT laboratory, Lusaka called on the Members of the County Assembly to be steadfast in their oversight of the Executive, by utilizing the Assembly Debating Chamber.
“Oversight is done in the Debating Chamber and not funerals. Members of the County Assembly should utilize the Chamber in the objective oversight roles.” He advised.
Lusaka, taking cognizant of the cordial working relationship between the Executive and the County Assembly hailed the synergy, while appraising the Assembly for the newly commissioned state-of-the-art debating facility.
“This is a significant milestone and trajectory in the history of the County Assembly. It is a shining testament of commitment to legislation, representation, oversight and service delivery for the residents.” He asserted.
Similarly, the governor acknowledged the tremendous strides achieved by the County Assembly in ICT and digital infrastructure, committing continuous collaboration in fostering transformation.
“We are thriving on the digital superhighway. The newly launched Jitume ICT laboratory is a cornerstone in research, skills, job opportunities among others.” He stated .
The ceremony held at the County Assembly premises was presided over by the National Assembly Speaker Dr Moses Wetangula,and attended by a host of leaders.
