Parents at Kings and Queens, a private secondary school in Birunda area of Saboti Sub County, stormed the school baying for the blood of the school’s director following revelations that he was allegedly involving himself in sexual affairs with students.
It is alleged that the director, Mr. Francis Lusosi made arrangements of taking a student out of school by securing a sick leave sheet which he used to cover up his ill intentions of wanting to have canal knowledge with the minor.
The vice of men having sex with minors has been rampant within the county which has seen several persons implicated involving stake holders, teachers and even parents.
The recent case has been at Lutaso primary and secondary where 11 children were reported to have dropped out of school due to pregnancy.
The headmaster for Lutaso primary school Tom Masika confirmed the case and blamed parents for failure to nurture discipline amongst their children who he said their discipline was wanting and had deteriorated.
The head master also blamed the police for what he termed doing little in seeing that the rising cases of defilement is dealt with saying that despite him writing letters to the police, the culprits are left to walk home scot free after negotiations from all the parties.
Wilfred Asegele the child officer Endebess region blamed the rising cases of defilement on parents who he said prefer solving the cases locally by engaging in dowry negotiations and fail to report the cases to relevant authorities.
He appealed to parents to make sure that any case pertaining defilement of children is reported to police or their offices for appropriate action to be taken against the culprits.
Elsewhere a man was arrested for having defiled a 14 years minor at Kiptogot sub location of Chepchoina location Endebess constituency.
Ben Simiyu 22 years was arrested by the Administration police while in his hide out with the minor inside Kiptogot forest where he had spent four months since he eloped with the girl from their home at Mowlem area of Endebess.
The man eloped with the minor and stayed at Lukhome area of Saboti Sub County for a month before finding their way at the forest where they built a house with twigs and started their life there.
He said that they were allocated a portion in the forest where they started agriculture for survival and he has been working on farms of the landlords in the area with the minor who he said he took her without her parent’s knowledge.
The man was taken to Endebess police station together with the juvenile and is awaiting judgement in court on child defilement and abductions.
Kitale Peace and Rights representative Richard Lusweti condemned the rising cases of defilement’s that the said has become a thorny issue in the area and said something needs to be done to end the rising cases.
He warned those parents who might have been involved in settling disputes at home instead of allowing justice to be done in courts that a stern action will be taken against them.
He pointed out that they are following up the matter where parents were implicated in the vice and those responsible for the vice will be held responsible for their acts as they will be sued a fresh with other counts of trying to interfere with the case
Defilement cases have also attracted condemnations from politicians including the woman representative Janet Nangabo who cursed the rising cases of defilement targeting the children especially Girls as he called for co-operation amongst all the stake holders in education to make sure that the vice is eliminated.
