Bumula constituency legislature Boniface Otsula has urged the political parties from western region to merge and form one coalition that could produce one strong contender who could battle out with Jubilee in 2017 general election.
Otsula said disorganization in political parties had resulted in the failure to produce the key person from the region who can fight for the people.
The legislature said the political leaders should have a dream for a unifying western -based party to be used as the western region’s mouth piece and bargaining chip.
“We should now see that Ford Kenya, New Ford Kenya, Labor, and all the Western parties join hands and then call that big coalition to play so that we head into 2017 with a big voice,” Otsula said.
The Bumula member of national assembly said the Western region has been used as a ladder for many years by others leaders who at the end dump it.
He urged the leaders to come to one table and form a coalition that could produce the strong candidate in coming general election.
He said the Luhya community should vote as a bloc under one party. “It is impossible for the leaders to join each other’s party,” Otsula said.
Adding that western region should embrace a one party system to remains one of the largest voting blocs; largely a sought-after swing vote,
According to him, the region largely voted for cord in 2013 arguing that the call for a coalition party may go well with the Luhya needs to test the leadership actively.
The MP was speaking during the disbursement of cheques to various schools and other project committees at Sihilila primary school in Bumula Sub County, to aid in the completion of the projects.
However the, the MP was against the idea of scrapping the CDF, arguing that abolishing CDF would affect the livelihoods of many Kenyan citizens.
“CDF doesn’t belong to MP’s but the people of Kenya. We know what CDF has done. There are millions of poor Kenyans who have gone to school through CDF bursaries across the country,” said the legislature
The MP assured the residents that as a parliament they will pass laws that will anchor CDF in law.
