The voting exercise in Webuye East constituency began smoothly from 6am Tuesday 9th 2022 with an average number of voters.
Later in the afternoon, most the polling station registered a low turnout below 50%. An example of Webuye PEFA station number 01 and 02. In PEFA 01 with 643 registered voters, only 244 had voted by midday. The same case was experienced in PEFA 02 where out of 642 registered voters, only 243 had turned up to exercise their rights of voting by midday.
Webuye East constituency comprises of three wards including Ndivisi, Mihuu and Maraka.
With 48,950 total registered voters, the constituency has attracted seven contestants which include former KNUT Secretary General Mr. Aggrey Murumba Namisi of ODM, Ndivisi MCA Martin Wanyonyi of Ford Kenya, Dr. Wanjala Iyaya of DAP-K, Job Chelongo of UDP, Carol Buyela of Jubilee, Aineah Muyundo of UDA and Noah Chiuli vying on an independent ticket.
The constituency main tallying centre is situated at St. Mathew’s secondary school where all votes from 63 polling stations will be tallied before the winners of parliamentary and County Assembly positions are announced.
