Persons living with disabilities across Nandi County have received mobility and assistive devices courtesy of the Kenya Re-organization which will aid them in their day to day activities.
Speaking at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital in Nandi during the disbursement of the assistive devices, Kenya re-official Mrs. Sylivia Murimi revealed that disability prevalence in the country stands at 34% and is an area that is not really given enough attention thus as an organization they are there for such kind of people to ensure they live a worthy life.
“We want you as an organization to make your life worth living through this assistive and mobility devices.” Murimi affirmed.
She urged Nandi residents to stop stigmatizing people living with disabilities and instead asks to help them achieve their dreams.
Nandi governor Stephen Sang supported the idea saying as Nandi administration, they will continue partnering to ensure that such people get support to run their day-to-day activities by being enabled to do that through such assistive devices.
Sang urged Nandi residents to identify persons with disabilities without hiding them and ensure they register with the county government so as to be in a position to be known well and assisted according to his/her extend of inabilities.
“As a county government of Nandi, we will work closely with partners to ensure our people get the necessary disability aids like wheel chairs etc. “He added.
The governor affirmed that his administration is committed in making sure people with disabilities get equal opportunities and enjoy their rights in all the sectors.
The devices issued include where chairs, prosthesis, white canes, tricycles and special seats among other many devices.
