A team of medical personnel from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital on Monday afternoon arrived at the Kapenguria Referral Hospital to assist with the overwhelming work into the landslide victims.
Led by Dr. Simiyu Tabu, Consultancy surgeon and head of emergency response department, said they have come with a team of forty members who will offer the necessary services both within the Kapenguria Referral Hospital and to the different dispensaries with affected people.
The sevices will range from counselling to administering of medicine and nutrition.
Dr. Tabu added that they will stay within the county till situation is controlled.
West Pokot Governor Prof John Lonyangapuo applauded the assistance from the MTRH for dispatching their team to assist in the disaster that has seen several lose their lives and hundreds affected.
Lonyangapuo further said that they are doing everything possible to ensure that help reaches the target group and that any help is still needed.
Early this morning at around ten in the morning the interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi , Devolution Eugene Wamalwa among other top security personnel were forced to cut their flight to West Pokot County citing poor visibility thus turned back to Nairobi from Eldoret.
They were to visit victims at the Kapenguria Referral Hospital and meet area leaders concerning the disaster. They added that they have come with medical supplies.
