Police officers in Kitale have arrested three suspects in connection with the
stealing of fire arms and other assorted items in Kitale town. Trans Nzoia Police Commander Ayub Gitonga confirmed the arrests, adding that the three suspects and other accomplices, who are at large, are being pursued by officers for engaging in criminal activities in parts of Lavington, Milimani and other areas.
He said following recent various criminal activities in the town, the officers set up traps to nab the criminals, affirming that they won’t relent in their efforts to flush out criminals.
The fire arms were stolen from a certain business enterprise in Kitale town, and belonged to the owner. Gitonga has warned businessmen to keep in mind the right qualities when recruiting staff, revealing that the suspects apprehended are workers in the said business enterprise. “I want to warn all employees to keep in mind the staff they are employing in their firms, and to work in tandem with the police to ensure they hire people without criminal records,” he said.
He said they’ve interrogated the suspects and have gathered vital information which will help to unearth the crime syndicate that has been operating in Trans Nzoia County. He has urged residents to continue sharing any information that will prove useful in taming crime and arresting criminals. He noted that the criminals are known by the public and they live among them. The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
