Police officers in Nandi have arrested a main suspect alleged to be involved in the importation of illicit liquor from Uganda. The suspect, Ronald Lang’at alias ‘young man’ who had evaded police attention for a while was arrested at his home in Chemundu village, Chesumei Sub County, in Nandi County, after a tip-off from residents.
Speaking to West Media at the scene, the Chesumei assistant County Commissioner Ngura Mwamachi together with other security officials said they raided the house and confiscated 133 cartons labelled ‘Simba Waragi’ with other 17 packages of what he sues to prepare illicit brew, and 80 sachets of Blue Sky, hidden inside a pit latrine. Ngura said the suspect, who was suspected to be armed and dangerous, was hiding in the ceiling of the house, “We’ve been able to get hold of the suspect we’ve been looking for, for some time, and we’ll continue the crackdown on all those involved,” he affirmed.
